Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Broussard is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support the nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu for adults and seniors facing anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges.

You will perform routine patient care tasks, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, document observations, and help ensure safety through de-escalation techniques and strict infection-control practices.

Qualifications

• Assists in patient care activities under supervision and in adherence to policies.
• Performs vital signs, documentation and observation reporting to nurses.
• Maintains infection control standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to professional standards and comply with regulations.
• Apply supportive behavior and de-escalation when needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and secure contraband as needed; conduct safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and attend required trainings.
• Assist with activities of daily living, meals, mobility and personal care.
• Document patient observations and care activities accurately in the chart.
• Communicate patient needs and care progress to nursing staff.
