Job summary

Monterey County Health Department’s Animal Services Bureau seeks an enthusiastic Animal Control Officer to provide compassionate field and shelter services for the county. You will enforce local and state animal laws, handle citations, respond to stray and injured animals, investigate bites, educate the public, and support rabies control efforts.

Requirements include a valid California driver’s license, willingness to work a flexible schedule, and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Approx. one year of experience handling animals and dealing with the public.
• Knowledge of state and local laws pertaining to animal control and licensing.

Responsibilities

• Enforce local and state animal laws and issue citations.
• Capture, pick up, transport, and care for stray, injured, or aggressive animals.
• Investigate animal bites and rabies control measures.
• Educate the public on responsible pet ownership.
• Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation.
