Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• On-the-job training completed.
• Animal care or law enforcement background preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• National Animal Control Association (NACA) certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives calls from dispatch and drives assigned vehicle to location.
• Investigates animal abuse and violations; interviews involved individuals.
• Takes possession of animals showing neglect or disease.
• Transports animals to shelter or veterinarian; locates owners when possible.
• Patrols areas; provides minor medical treatment when needed.
• Completes records, reports; collects fees; handles licenses and adoptions.
• Provides information on licensing, vaccinations, euthanasia, etc.
• Uses department weapons per protocol; testifies as needed.
• Speaks to community groups about pet care and population control.
