Job summary

Advocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to assist a friendly, humorous gentleman with a developmental disability in the Lee Center, NY area. The role involves supporting him with goals and community activities, in a 1:1 setting within his local community.

Hours total 15 per week, three 5-hour days between 9 AM and 3 PM, with direct support paid at $21.30/hour and indirect/training at $16.00/hour. Mileage reimbursement and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid email address.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.
• Must demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
• Must understand the Agency mission and person-centered services.
• Must demonstrate patience and compassion.
• Must read, comprehend и write instructions and correspondence.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle physical aspects of the job.

Responsibilities

• Support a friendly, humorous gentleman with developmental disability in Lee Center, NY.
• Assist with working on goals and community-based activities within the community.
• Log days, time, mileage, and service documentation daily.
• Encourage engagement in hobbies, community activities, and local events.
