Job summary

Advocates is seeking a compassionate Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with a gifted young man with a developmental disability in Phoenix, NY. The role focuses on teaching independent living, communication, and participation in community activities.

Responsibilities include documenting daily time and services, maintaining detailed logs, and upholding person-centered supports with empathy and patience. Hours are Tue–Fri, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid email address.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.
• Must demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
• Must understand the Agency mission and person-centered services.

Responsibilities

• Help client develop independent living skills and communication.
• Assist with social, recreational, and physical fitness activities in the community.
• Log daily time, mileage, and service documentation accurately.
• Maintain patience, compassion, and strong organizational skills.
