Your Impact

We are currently hiring for several animal care support positions at Broad-ranging in multiple levels. All positions will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and will require onsite work.

The Comparative Medicine Technicians are responsible for:
  • Preventative health monitoring, veterinary care, and animal husbandry for multiple species.
  • Completing all aspects of vivarium technical operations according to standard operating procedures, including providing clean nesting material, fresh food, water, and environmental enrichment.
Position Details:
  • Monitor animal health and well-being, evaluate health, report abnormal conditions, and provide clinical treatments as directed.
  • Document and maintain records in the laboratory animal resource software system.
  • Provide technical support to research staff and monitor enrichment enhancements.
  • Maintain breeding, identification, and gestational databases.
  • Operate bio-safety cabinets, animal transfer stations, and ventilated rack systems.
  • Assist with preparing autoclaved caging material and operate sterilizers and decontamination equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and institutional policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED and 0-4 years of experience in laboratory animal husbandry.
  • Effective and professional communication skills.
  • Weekend and holiday work required, possibly including a shifted weekly schedule.
  • AALAS certification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • This is an essential employee position, employment conditional upon a satisfactory occupational health assessment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and push/pull 300 lbs.
