Job Description

Comparative Medicine Tech I is responsible for basic sanitation/disinfection, maintenance of the animal facility, daily record-keeping, and operation of major laboratory equipment. Responsibilities include general husbandry for laboratory animals, stocking inventory of PPE and supplies, sanitizing laboratory spaces, autoclaving equipment, and providing daily animal care. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Responsibilities
  • Provide animals with clean cages, water, and food. Report equipment maintenance needs and sanitize cages.
  • Ensure equipment (racks, biological cabinets) is clean and operational. Make minor adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, report damages.
  • Sanitize and disinfect facility areas, record environmental conditions.
  • Report issues to supervisor or veterinary staff, comply with safety regulations for infectious waste.
  • Follow detailed instructions, record cage census, and contribute to a safe environment.
  • Participate in departmental training and prepare for ALAT certification.

Compensation

The hourly salary range is $23.29 - $25.34, depending on experience and other factors. This does not include bonuses or additional benefits.
