Job Summary

The Patient Safety Companion will remain with a patient for a designated timeframe to maintain the patient’s safety, preventing falls, wandering, or disruptions of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents.
• Remain with assigned patient at all times.
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency, escalating for the appropriate response.
• Assist with ambulation, toileting, and transportation.
• Perform direct patient care duties as assigned under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
• Perform duties in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures.
• Provide patient safety.
• Document in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in ongoing educational activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience

Minimum Required

• 1 year work experience.

Preferred/Desired

• 1 year work experience within a healthcare setting.

Education

Minimum Required

• Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral, and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency; skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Licensure

BLS certification within 15 days.
