Job summary

Petco is seeking a Companion Animal Specialist to care for pets and provide expert guidance in the Pet Care Center. You will ensure animal welfare, habitat maintenance, and customer education while supporting sales and inventory accuracy. This role emphasizes teamwork and high standards of care.

The position requires at least 1 year of animal-care experience, strong communication skills, and the Pet Care Certification. A dynamic, pet-loving environment with opportunities to grow awaits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience caring for companion animals and aquatic life.
• Strong knowledge of animal care, husbandry, and maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to educate others and communicate effectively.
• Strong customer service mindset with selling behaviors.
• Basic business, math, and inventory management skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion and ongoing maintenance of the Petco Animal Care Certification Program required.

Responsibilities

• Care for companion animals and aquatic life to Petco standards.
• Assist customers with knowledge and product recommendations.
• Maintain clean habitats and inventory accuracy.
• Support sales and merchandising in the PCC.
• Assist with opening/closing and daily operations.
