POSITION SUMMARY
The Elizabeth Seton Children Center facilitates companionship between residents who have increased behavioral needs, providing a loving presence. As a companion, you will foster companionship among residents, ensuring their safety in the least restrictive environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
- Report on and off duty to the nurse manager, house supervisor, or charge nurse.
- Perform assigned duties under the direction of the charge nurse, nurse manager, or house supervisor.
- Keep residents safe and in the least restrictive environment.
- Don and doff PPE as needed.
- Gather supplies and clothing for care to be performed by the CNA.
- Serve as an adult role model for residents.
- Promptly report any escalating behaviors to the RN.
- Be aware of facility policies on child abuse and neglect, and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards residents.
- Follow infection control policies, including hand washing and isolation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident care areas.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of residents’ areas.
- Accompany residents to participate in group and outdoor activities.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately to the nurse manager.
- Document behavioral observations in EMR every 2 hours and as needed for episodic outbursts.
- Perform other related duties as directed by supervisors or management.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
Experience
- Experience working with children preferred.
Employee Requirements:
- Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Meet health standards and requirements as established by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies.
- Meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
- Assist in evacuation of residents if necessary.
Working Conditions:
- Work in well-lit, ventilated areas.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be required to work beyond normal hours or in other positions temporarily.
Salary Range:
$21.42/Hr to $23.24/Hr
