POSITION SUMMARY
The Elizabeth Seton Children Center facilitates companionship between residents who have increased behavioral needs, providing a loving presence. As a companion, you will foster companionship among residents, ensuring their safety in the least restrictive environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Treat residents, family members, and co-workers with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
- Report to the nurse manager, house supervisor, or charge nurse at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Perform assigned duties under the supervision of the charge nurse or nurse manager.
- Ensure resident safety and placement in the least restrictive environment.
- Don and doff PPE as needed.
- Gather supplies and clothing for care tasks performed by the CNA.
- Serve as an adult role model for residents.
- Promptly report any escalating behaviors to the RN.
- Follow facility policies on child abuse and neglect, reporting any incidents of abuse or inappropriate behavior towards residents.
- Adhere to infection control policies, including hand washing and isolation procedures.
- Maintain a clean and clutter-free resident care area.
- Assist in keeping residents’ areas clean.
- Accompany residents to group and outdoor activities.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately to the nurse manager.
- Document behavioral observations in EMR every 2 hours and as needed for episodic outbursts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma required
Experience
- Experience working with children preferred
Employee Requirements:
- Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Meet health standards and requirements set by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies
- Pass medical and physical examinations as per policy
- Ability to assist in resident evacuation if necessary
Working Conditions:
- Work in well-lit, ventilated areas
- Subject to frequent interruptions
- May require working beyond normal hours or in different positions temporarily
Salary Range:
$21.42/Hr to $23.24/Hr
