Waste Connections has an immediate position available for a Container Repair / Welder located in Brooklyn, NY. In this role, you will perform welding, fabricating, and compactor repair. This is a full-time, long-term position with a great company. If you are self-motivated, hardworking, and have good communication skills, we want to talk to you.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform welding and electrical repairs of trash containers and compactors.
• Sand and paint trash containers.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Follow safety procedures, document parts usage, and track repair times.
• Communicate effectively about needed repairs or tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Requires extensive physical activity, including strenuous work, heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
• Work environment may be indoors in a shop or outdoors in the yard. Usually well-lit and ventilated. May require working in awkward positions or handling greasy or dirty tools. Safety precautions are essential.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Respirator fit test required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Stick and MIG welding.
• Experience with PLCs and electrical systems.
• Fabrication experience is a plus.

Pay starts at $34-$36 per hour, depending on experience.

The schedule is typically Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed.
