Job summary

Contact Government Services, LLC is seeking an experienced CommVault Data Protection Engineer for a large-scale federal government environment. You will design, deploy, test, troubleshoot, and support backup and recovery solutions across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities include implementing security patches, capacity planning, and analytics within the Commvault framework, with emphasis on DISA STIGs and secure configurations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Commvault data protection application.
• Knowledge of LAN, WAN, Windows Servers, Linux, SQL database.
• Experience with DISA STIGs and applying to Commvault related systems.
• Security related tasks including documentation, vulnerability scan review, patch management, and auditing.

Responsibilities

• Designed, developed, configured, integrated and secured complex backup, recovery and storage products over WAN in a dispersed solution using Commvault.
• Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for critical data; review and participate in maintenances on the backup/recovery infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery problems including networking, application, server, hardware, and appliance issues.
• Provide analytics, usage, capacity planning and reporting within the Commvault solution.
• Implement regular security updates and patches to backup servers and appliances per Federal requirements.
• Work with operations teams to support enterprise infrastructure processes to respond to backup, restore, and data replication requests.

CommVault Systems Engineer (Data Protection / Backup)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Experienced

Department: Technology Support

CGS is seeking an experienced CommVault Data Protection Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in designing, developing, configuring, implementing, testing, troubleshooting, deploying, and supporting backup and recovery technical solutions for a large-scale federal government enterprise’s environment.

Skills and attributes for success:

• Designed, developed, configured, integrated and secured complex backup, recovery and storage products over wide area network (WAN) in a complex, geographically dispersed solution, ranging from single servers to multi-tier, multi-platform solutions utilizing the Commvault enterprise backup solutions.
• Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for critical data – to include primary/auxiliary copies and VM-based backups. Reviews, plans, and participates in executing regularly scheduled maintenances on the backup/recovery infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery problems to include networking, application, server, hardware, and appliance related backup issues.
• Provide analytics, usage, capacity planning and reporting within the Commvault management and monitoring solution.
• Implement regular security updates and patches to related backup application servers and appliances in accordance with Federal Information and Information Systems requirements.
• Work with operation teams to develop and support enterprise infrastructure processes, tools, and environments to ensure a timely response to backup, restore, and data replication requests.

Qualifications:

• Possesses a strong knowledge of Commvault data protection application.
• Knowledge of other technologies a plus (LAN, WAN, Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux, SQL database).
• Experience with DISA STIGs and applying to Commvault related systems.
• Perform security related tasks which include documentation, vulnerability scan review, assessment support, patch management, and auditing as required.

Ideally, you will also have:

• CommVault Certified Engineer
• Working knowledge of SAN and Cloud storage systems - EMC Unity and PURE Storage.
• Federal Agency issued security clearance.
