Job summary

Contact Government Services, LLC seeks a Systems Engineer specializing in CommVault data protection and backup. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and securing enterprise backup solutions across WAN, spanning multiple platforms and data centers.

Responsibilities include maintaining restore capabilities, troubleshooting complex issues, performing capacity planning, and applying security patches in line with Federal requirements. A background in government work is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with Commvault data protection applications.
• Familiarity with LAN/WAN, Windows Server, Linux and SQL databases.
• Knowledge of DISA STIGs and applying to Commvault systems.
• Ability to document, review vulnerabilities, manage patches and auditing.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, integrate and secure backup and storage solutions over WAN for multi‑platform environments using Commvault.
• Create and maintain backup, restore and redundancy solutions for critical data and perform regular maintenances on the backup infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery issues across networking, apps, servers and hardware.
• Provide analytics, capacity planning and reporting within the management/monitoring solution.
• Apply regular security updates and patches to backup servers in line with federal requirements.

CommVault Systems Engineer (Data Protection / Backup)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Experienced

Department: Technology Support

Responsibilities

• Designed, developed, configured, integrated and secured complex backup, recovery and storage products over wide area network (WAN) in a complex, geographically dispersed solution, ranging from single servers to multi-tier, multi-platform solutions utilizing the Commvault enterprise backup solutions.
• Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for critical data – to include primary/auxiliary copies and VM-based backups. Reviews, plans, and participates in executing regularly scheduled maintenances on the backup/recovery infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery problems to include networking, application, server, hardware, and appliance related backup issues.
• Provide analytics, usage, capacity planning and reporting within the Commvault management and monitoring solution.
• Implement regular security updates and patches to related backup application servers and appliances in accordance with Federal Information and Information Systems requirements.
• Work with operation teams to develop and support enterprise infrastructure processes, tools, and environments to ensure a timely response to backup, restore, and data replication requests.

Qualifications

• Possesses a strong knowledge of Commvault data protection application.
• Knowledge of other technologies a plus (LAN, WAN, Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux, SQL database).
• Experience with DISA STIGs and applying to Commvault related systems.
• Perform security related tasks which include documentation, vulnerability scan review, assessment support, patch management, and auditing as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• CommVault Certified Engineer
• Working knowledge of SAN and Cloud storage systems - EMC Unity and PURE Storage.
• Federal Agency issued security clearance.
