Job summary

The New School is seeking a Commuter Engagement Group Leader to support commuter programming. You will serve on the Commuter Engagement Board, host weekly meetings and monthly events on and off campus, and create content for NarwhalNation and Instagram.

The ideal candidate is a current New School student eligible for Federal Work Study, with strong teamwork, reliability, and organization. Hybrid work includes in-person events and virtual hours; evenings/weekends required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled New School student eligible for Federal Work Study.
• Demonstrated commitment to community building and teamwork.
• Reliable, organized, and communicative.
• Able to manage a hybrid schedule and confirm weekly changes for staffing.
• Able to commit to weekly meetings on Thursdays 4-5p.m. (in person) or Fridays 4-5p.m. (Zoom).
• Must be able to work at least one weekend or evening event per month.

Commuter Engagement Group Leader

The Office of Student Engagement oversees community building programs and seeks a student worker to support programming for commuter students. This position reports to the Associate Director for Recreation & Commuter Engagement.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a student officer on the Commuter Engagement Board, which hosts weekly meetings and monthly events both on and off campus.
• Create content for the Commuter Group’s NarwhalNation and Instagram pages.
• Reply to student inquiries related to commuter discounts, events, and services.
• Staff events, meetings, and office hours in person.
• Prepare for events and hold virtual office hours remotely.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled New School student who qualifies for Federal Work Study.
• Demonstrated commitment to community building and teamwork.
• Reliable, organized, and communicative.
• Able to manage a hybrid schedule and confirm weekly changes for event staffing.
• Able to commit to weekly meetings on Thursdays from 4-5p.m. (in person) OR Fridays 4-5p.m. (on Zoom).
• Must be able to work at least one weekend or evening event per month.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in an office or community building environment is preferred.

Work Mode

Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have a regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4×/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

Salary Range

$18-20 / hour
