Job summary

The YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic Personal Trainer to deliver high quality fitness training, guidance, and customer service in a welcoming environment. You will recruit and retain clients, design individualized programs, track progress, and upsell programs.

You will uphold safety and certification requirements and maintain confidentiality. Responsibilities include coaching, responding to member needs, staying current on fitness trends, and building strong relationships within the YMCA

Qualifications

• Certified Personal Trainer certification (or equivalent) current and in good standing.
• Ability to design individualized fitness programs for members.
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively recruits and retains personal training clients.
• Maintain confidentiality of member information and adhere to policies.
• Process contracts and payments through member services per procedures.
• Assist members on the wellness floor with courtesy.
• Design and document programs tailored to member health goals.
• Coach and motivate members toward behavior change.
• Monitor progress and answer member questions to support goals.
• Stay informed on fitness trends to provide expert guidance.
• Build authentic relationships and connect members with YMCA resources.
• Upsell programs: PT, group exercise, youth sports, aquatics & youth development.
• Utilize tools and handouts to increase knowledge of programs.
• Report accidents/incidents per procedures and policy.
• Report suspicious behavior and policy violations.
• Adhere to child abuse risk management responsibilities.
• Ensure rooms/closets locked; monitor high-risk areas.
• Respond to emergencies; provide first aid when needed.
• Enforce safety rules with tact and respect.
• Maintain required certifications; perform other duties as assigned.
