Job summary

North Suffolk Community Services is seeking a Community Support Specialist to engage individuals, assess needs, and support treatment planning. You will work with a dedicated team to address housing, transportation, skills-building, money management, and medication administration in community and group living settings.

The role emphasizes person-centered interventions, collaboration with Housing Coordinators, and direct support to help persons served live more self-directed lives in Boston, East

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree highly preferred.
• Experience: In lieu of college degree, at least one year experience with population that has severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
• Skills: MAP and CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire; MA Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Engage people and partner with them to improve health and wellness and develop skills.
• Gather information about community agencies to aid service provision.
• Provide side-by-side support and coaching to help people socialize.
• Organize and lead individual and group social and recreational activities.
• Carry out interventions and steps of treatment plans with direct support and rehabilitation services.
• Collaborate with Housing Coordinators to help find safe, affordable housing and assist with related tasks.
• Participate in medication administration per MAP and DMH policies.
