Job summary

Delaware County (OH) is seeking a responsible bus driver to safely operate public transit vehicles, transporting passengers to scheduled locations in Delaware County and adjacent counties.

Applicants must meet DOT medical and background checks, hold a valid driver license, and be able to work 25+ hours per week with rotating Saturdays. The role requires reading maps, assisting elderly or disabled riders, and maintaining vehicle safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver license; CDL with passenger endorsement optional; acceptable driving record.
• Post-offer DOT medical exam, employment verification, and criminal background check; drug/alcohol screen.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local bus driving requirements and traffic laws.
• Ability to operate a passenger bus, wheelchair lift, and computer.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance for buses/vans.
• Ability to read maps and navigate unfamiliar areas.
• Ability to work with elderly/disabled passengers and manage difficult situations.
• Flexible schedule including holidays, early mornings, evenings, and possible overtime.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive public-transit vehicles and transport passengers to scheduled locations.
• Operate a passenger bus and wheelchair lift.
• Read and interpret manifests for bus stops and routes.
• Maintain safe driving practices and vehicle safety standards.
• Work with elderly, disabled, or medically fragile clients.
• Meet DOT medical requirements and pass background checks.
• Work a minimum of 25 hours per week with rotating Saturdays.
