Position Title: Community Training Instructors Temporary Pool - Various Openings

Additional Information: Please note: If you are a PSERS retiree, employment as an adjunct faculty will suspend your retirement benefits per PSERS guidelines. These are grant-funded, temporary, part-time positions without benefits, scheduled flexibly Monday through Friday at Senior Centers across Allegheny County. Instructors are responsible for their own transportation. Good communication and organizational skills are required; teaching experience with seniors is a plus. Certification may be required for fitness-related roles.

Available Courses:
  • Aerobic Exercise: Introduces older adults to exercises from seated to floor routines. Classes once a week, 1.5 hours, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, for 4-12 weeks.
  • Arts and Crafts: Creative expression through various media. Weekly classes, 2 hours, 1-3 weeks, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
  • Recreational Cards: Social and mental engagement through card games. Weekly, 2 hours, 4 weeks, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
  • Technology Workshop: Hands-on tech skills for smartphones, tablets, laptops. Weekly, 2 hours, 1-3 weeks, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
  • Line Dance: Introduction to line dancing for fun and fitness. Weekly, 2 hours, up to 12 weeks, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
  • Healthy Cooking: Promotes healthy eating with practical demonstrations. Weekly, 2 hours, 3 weeks, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
  • Tai Chi: Enhances physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Weekly, 1.5 hours, up to 12 weeks, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Responsibilities include: Teaching, curriculum development, student assessment, creating a positive learning environment, collaborating on program development, participating in professional development, and college committees. Clearances for criminal record and child abuse are required before employment.
