Job description

The Lakeville Area Arts Center is seeking a Stage Manager to join our team. As a Stage Manager, you will play a crucial role in bringing our productions to life.

In this role, you will:

  1. Collaborate with the director to realize their artistic vision
  2. Communicate effectively with cast, director, producer, and props manager
  3. Assist in auditions and maintain cast lists
  4. Manage props and movable set pieces during performances
  5. Prepare rehearsal and performance spaces
  6. Assist in striking set and cleaning up after shows

The Stage Manager position is hired on a show-by-show basis.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  1. Participate in bringing the director’s vision for a production to fruition.
  2. Communicate any cast concerns to the director and Arts Center Manager.
  3. Assist in running auditions and maintaining all resumes, headshots, and cast lists.
  4. The Stage Manager will be the main communicator between cast, director, producer, and props manager.
  5. Maintain all props and movable set pieces during performances, which may include the supervision and use of items such as a fog machine. This may also involve working with technicians throughout each performance.
  6. Collaborate with the producer to collect headshots and bios for the show program.
  7. Prepare space and materials for rehearsals and performances, and assist in striking set and clean up after the final performance.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:
The Stage Manager
  1. Is under the immediate general and technical supervision of the Arts Center Manager.
  2. Responds to requests or inquiries from the production director, producer, and props manager.
  3. Communicates and works effectively with other City personnel and patrons.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  1. Sharp eye for detail.
  2. Ability to work under pressure.
  3. Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Proven work experience as a Stage Manager or similar role.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Relevant training and/or certifications as a Stage Manager.
  2. Experience/Knowledge about Theatre Light and Sound Operation.
