Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Community Technician to provide a steady, compassionate presence for residents experiencing homelessness. This frontline role emphasizes trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and crisis response.

You will monitor environments, support safety, complete documentation (logs, incident reports, progress notes), and participate in training (CPR/First Aid, Narcan). The position offers growth toward case management and leadership within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

Community Technician

Full-Time | 37.5 hours/week | 24/7 Program | Mandatory Overtime

At BRC, every shift matters. As a Community Technician, you’re a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness—often supporting people in moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition.


This hands-on, frontline role is ideal for those interested in social work, human services, public health, or emergency response. No prior shelter experience required—just strong judgment, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.


What You’ll Do


  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds

  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques

  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally

  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security

  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)

  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
