BRC in New York, NY is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline support to individuals experiencing homelessness. You will help maintain a safe, orderly environment, engage residents with trauma-informed approaches, and respond to crises with calm judgment.

The role offers hands-on training, certifications (CPR/First Aid, Narcan, Fire Safety Guard), daily documentation, and opportunities for advancement within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).

At BRC, every shift matters. As a Community Technician, you’re a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness—often supporting people in moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition.

This hands-on, frontline role is ideal for those interested in social work, human services, public health, or emergency response. No prior shelter experience required—just strong judgment, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds

• Morning, evening, and overnight shifts available
