Job summary

Springbrook NY Inc in Oneonta, NY is seeking a Shared Community Support Professional to assist individuals across educational, residential and community environments with activities of daily living, personal care, and safety.

You will model positive behavior, advocate for the people you support, maintain attendance, follow plans, collect data, complete billing documentation, participate in team meetings, and help people pursue meaningful goals in a respectful, person-centered setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and drive Springbrook vehicles; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Be a good role model for the people you support in all situations and settings
• Be an advocate for the people you support in all situations and settings
• Be punctual and dependable; Regular staff attendance is vital for the people we support
• In partnership with the people you support, observe, discuss, and help assess their strengths and opportunities to help develop their personal goals and plans
• Support and encourage people as they make choices about the goals they want to pursue, the activities they wish to participate in, and how they want to live their life
• Specific tasks ranging from performing intensive personal care needs to supervising people while they perform those tasks will depend on the abilities of the people whom you support and their level of need.
• Support and encourage people to find meaningful and fun ways to spend their time and make friends outside the Springbrook community.
• Follow all written plans, learning materials, and goals
• Collect required data
• Complete required billing documentation for supports and services provided
• Obtain and maintain all applicable training, certifications, and knowledge of policies and procedures
• Ensure safe and clean environments, including grounds and vehicles, for the people we support
• Attend team meetings and 1:1 meetings with supervisor
• All other duties as assigned
