Job summary

Burrell, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Community Support Specialist in St. Charles, MO to assist adults in recovery from substance use disorders.

You will provide mentoring, advocacy, and coaching to help clients build life skills, access resources, and maintain progress toward treatment goals. The role emphasizes person-centered, trauma-informed care, collaboration with treatment teams, and community-based support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Counseling, or related field.
  • AS in Behavioral Health Support may substitute for degree.
  • 4 years of qualifying experience in related human services required or combination of education and experience.
  • QAP credentials (CADC/CRADC/CRAADC/CCJP/RADC etc.) accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver recovery-focused support services to help treatment goals and daily functioning.
  • Build trusting relationships to encourage engagement and independence.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies, problem-solving, and living skills.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches, including motivational interviewing and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Help clients access resources: housing, healthcare, employment, education, and more.
  • Coordinate with treatment teams to plan services and ensure coordinated care.
  • Respond to crises within training scope and provide support and intervention.
  • Conduct outreach, engagement, and follow-up to promote ongoing participation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services and client progress.
  • Monitor progress toward goals and communicate observations to the team.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Represent the organization professionally with clients and partners.
