Job summary

BBH Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking a Community Support Specialist to provide community-based mental health services and support to clients in the Columbia, MO area. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized treatment plans and promote recovery and resiliency.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field, and experience with case management and evidence-based interventions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or related human services field, or equivalent experience.
  • Background check, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation required.
  • Experience with case management and knowledge of mental health and substance use services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community-based mental health services including assessment, treatment planning, and intervention.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and stakeholders to develop individualized plans.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches like Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, schools, and organizations.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
  • Prepare for and facilitate group therapy sessions.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders involved in client's care.
  • Participate in staff training and quality improvement initiatives.

Community Support Specialist

Job Summary: As a Community Support Specialist, you'll provide support and activities to clients through an organized treatment plan designed to ease an individual's immediate and continued adjustment to community living. You'll be working in the community, including clients' homes, clinics, and other places around the community as part of your regular assigned caseload. Our ideal candidate is passionate about promoting recovery and increased resiliency, has experience with evidence-based interventions, and strong communication and collaboration skills. Location: Columbia, Missouri, a thriving city nestled in the heart of Mid Missouri, boasting an array of recreational attractions, restaurants, and entertainment options. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Finger Lakes State Park, kayaking or relaxing on the beach. Take a stroll through the picturesque University of Missouri campus, admiring its historic buildings and vibrant student culture. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide community-based mental health services to children, adolescents, and/or adults including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention implementation.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and other stakeholders to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Utilize strengths-based, evidence- based approaches like Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, etc.
  • Provide behavioral interventions and evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinate care with other providers like physicians, schools, organizations.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
  • Participate in staff training and development activities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members for coordinated client care.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders involved in client's care.
  • Prepare for and facilitate group therapy sessions.
  • Knowledge of ACT model for some roles.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, human services field or equivalent experience
  • Background check, training, valid driver's license, reliable transportation required
  • Specific skills/knowledge in case management, mental health, substance use, documentation, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or Associate's in Behavioral Health Support
  • 4 years qualifying experience in mental health/substance use services delivery
  • Combination of education and experience may qualify
