Job summary

Pecan Valley Mh-mr Region is seeking a dedicated care assistant to support adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities in daily living activities and community participation.

The role includes transporting clients, coordinating daytime activities, and maintaining professional relationships with caregivers, facility staff, and families. A valid Texas driver’s license and clean driving record are required, with HS diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Proficient writing and verbal communication skills are required.
• Basic computer and data entry skills are essential.
• Excellent time management and scheduling abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide services that support independent living tasks and daily living skills for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Transport clients to and from homes and community activities.
• Assist in meaningful daytime activities for community integration and social skills development.
• Maintain professional working relationships with clients, family members, facility staff, administration, therapists and employers.
• Drive agency vehicles responsibly within the region during working hours.

Job description

Duties consist of but are not limited to providing services that aid with independent living tasks, and daily life skills, to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This position also provides transportation to and from homes and various places in the community, aiding in meaningful daytime activities for purposes of community integration, appropriate social skills, meeting responsibilities, and being responsive to individual’s special needs. This position requires proffesional working relationships with clients, family members, family staff, nursing facility staff, administration , therapist, employers, and workforce. Must drive agency vehicles responsibly, within the region, and during working hours.High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age, have a Texas driver’s license, and have a clear driving record for the previous 3 years and a valid auto insurance card.Experience/Skills: Proficient writing and verbal communication skills necessary. Basic computer & data entry essential. Excellent time management and scheduling skills essential.Physical Abilities: Must be able to satisfactorily perform job specific tasks prescribed in agency physical. Must be able to bend, stoop crouch, sit, stand, push, pull, kneel, and lift.
