Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in Trenton, MO seeks a Community Support Specialist to deliver community-based mental health services. You will develop and implement care plans to promote client independence, collaborating with families, healthcare providers, and community partners.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practices and client-centered support across settings, with a focus on durable community integration and holistic care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related human services field; or a Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and two years of qualifying experience.
  • Any four-year combination of higher education and related experience; or Associate’s degree in Behavioral Health Support with qualifying experience.
  • Qualifying experience includes working with individuals with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities; experience in skills-building, group or one-on-one support, recovery-focused coaching, or community functioning assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community-based mental health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention implementation.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and other stakeholders to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Utilize a strengths-based approach incorporating Motivational Interviewing, Positive Reinforcement Techniques, Trauma-Informed Strategies, CBT, and DBT.
  • Provide behavioral interventions using cognitive processing, operant conditioning, and group dynamics.
  • Coordinate care with external providers including physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and client progress.
  • Facilitate PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) group sessions aligned with treatment plan goals.
  • Participate in ongoing staff development and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives through data collection and reporting.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with families, schools, and community supports.
