Job summary

Opportunity Services in Savage, MN is seeking a Community Support Specialist to help adults with disabilities through our Day Services Program. This community-based role involves taking individuals into the community for enrichment and volunteer opportunities, coaching groups at their workplace, and supporting their physical, emotional, and interpersonal needs.

No nights or weekends. Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with adults with disabilities and/or behavioral needs
• High School Diploma is required
• Ability to obtain DOT certification
• Clean driving record and valid Driver's License
• Ability to perform physical tasks (bend, squat, kneel, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to clients in recreational activities, mealtimes and other community activities
• Provide quality assistance with all personal cares
• Provide and assist with medication
• Hook up wheelchairs and operate lift vehicles
• Facilitate interactions between work teams and the greater population
• Use positive reinforcement and alternate communication strategies
• Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner
• Attend required staff meetings and training
• Assist in transportation of clients using company vehicles

You could be the perfect candidate to be a Community Support Specialist in our Day Services Program with Opportunity Services in Savage, MN! This is a community-based role where you will take individuals out into community for enrichment and volunteer opportunities.

OS team members spend their days coaching groups of individuals at their workplace, implementing community-based recreational activities/outings, and providing supports to meet our consumers' physical, emotional, and interpersonal needs. Hours and Benefits of the CSS:

• The starting pay rate for this position is $20.00-$22.50/hour. Education and experience are considered when extending offers.
• Monday – Friday: Approx. 7:00 am to 3:30 pm - No Nights or Weekends required!

• Provide and assist with hooking up wheelchairs and using lift vehicles.
• Facilitate interactions between work teams with their work community and the greater population.
• Assists in interaction through positive reinforcement, positive programming, engagement and the use of alternative communication strategies.
• Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.
• Attend all required and requested staff meetings and training.
• Assist in the transportation of clients using company vehicles.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

• Desire to work with adults with disabilities and/or behavioral needs
• High School Diploma
• Ability to obtain DOT certification
• Clean driving record and valid Driver's License
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, torque, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach above shoulders
