Job summary

Brightli in Kirksville, MO is seeking a Community Support Specialist to deliver community-based mental health services, helping clients achieve greater independence and wellbeing through personalized care plans.

You will work with clients, families, and providers to implement treatment plans, coordinate with schools and community organizations, and maintain accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related human services field.
• Two years qualifying experience with mental health or related services.
• Any four-year combination of higher education and related experience.
• Associate’s degree in Behavioral Health Support.
• Four years of qualifying experience with relevant populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide community-based mental health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention implementation.
• Collaborate with clients, families, and stakeholders to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Utilize strengths-based approaches and evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and DBT.
• Provide behavioral interventions using cognitive processing, operant conditioning, and group dynamics.
• Coordinate care with external providers including physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and client progress.
• Facilitate PSR group sessions aligned with treatment goals.
• Participate in ongoing staff development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with families, schools, and community supports.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide community‑based mental health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention implementation

• Provide behavioral interventions using methods including cognitive processing, operant conditioning, and group dynamics

• Coordinate care with external providers including physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and client progress

• Facilitate PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) group sessions as aligned with treatment plan goals

• Participate in ongoing staff development and training opportunities

• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives through data collection and reporting

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with families, schools, and community supports

Education and/or Experience Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related human services field; or

• Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and two years of qualifying experience*; or

• Any four‑year combination of higher education and related experience; or

• Associate’s degree in Behavioral Health Support; or

• Four years of qualifying experience*

*Qualifying experience includes working with individuals with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities. Experience should include services such as skill‑building, group or one‑on‑one support, recovery‑focused coaching, or assistance in community functioning and employment.

Employment Requirements:

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
