Job summary

The Chavez Foundation is seeking a Community Service Coordinator to support low-income families in our California programs. You will help run the Si Se Puede Community Center, assist with afterschool and resident services, meal distribution, health and wellness, and outreach efforts.

Ideal candidates are organized, personable, and able to manage records and reports. This is an on-site role requiring First Aid/CPR, background checks, and a willingness to commute between sites in the region.

Qualifications

  • At least 48 college credits or related experience in Education/Youth Development/Community Services.
  • Prefers bilingual candidates.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Access).
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background check (Live scan) required.
  • Negative TB test within last 2 years.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; travel between sites.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified (or obtain within 30 days).
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects for activities and transport.
  • Ability to form partnerships to meet site/programming needs.
  • Essential Worker Position (on-site only).

Community Service Coordinator Position

The Chavez Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves low-income families in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas through affordable housing and social service programs.



THE RESPONSIBILITY:


  • Maintain all ethical practices of the Chavez Foundation. by serving the community with character, integrity, dignity, and a high degree of professionalism

  • Manage all Si Se Puede Community Center Programs, which consist of an Afterschool Program, Resident Social Services, Meal Distribution, Health and Wellness and Community Outreach

  • Friendly, outgoing personality that establishes a welcoming environment within the facility for members and visitor

  • Skill in maintaining record keeping and document retention systems and in compiling comprehensive reports



THE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Preferred - Have at least 48 units of college credit from a two-year accredited college or related experience in Education/Youth Development/Community Services

  • Preferably bilingual

  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel/Access) required

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Live scan Fingerprint/ background check

  • Must provide proof of a negative TB test result taken within the last 2 years

  • A valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years

  • This position does require the individual to commute between sites

  • Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified (or obtain within 30 days) and maintain those certifications

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as required for transportation, set up and conducting activities

  • The ability to create partnerships to ensure all site/programming requirements are being met

  • Essential Worker Position (This is not a work from home position)
