Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Utilize departmental syllabus template, approved textbooks, and supplementary materials.
  • Submit personalized syllabus to Deans’ Office one week prior to course start date.
  • Design, facilitate, and teach community education classes in the instructor’s area of expertise.
  • Prepare and execute lesson plans, assign tasks and evaluate student work and progress.
  • Develop course syllabus, assess, supervise, and motivate students.
  • Distribute and review comprehensive course syllabus to students by the first week of the course.
  • Receive, understand, and follow Course Data Form as distributed by Deans’ Office.
  • Adhere to scheduled times and locations.
  • Obtain prior approval for substitutes or guest speakers from Deans’ Office.
  • Maintain grade book in electronic or hard copy format.
  • Take and record student attendance daily.
  • Submit attendance verifications and mid-semester roster to Deans’ Office.
  • Give final exam per the college’s Final Exam Schedule.
  • Promote a safe, effective, and ethical learning environment.
  • Use professional discretion in classroom management.
  • Respond to emails from students, staff, and administrators in a timely manner.
  • Check assigned college mailbox regularly.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Use professional discretion and judgment in managing studentsin classroom setting.
  • Respond to e-mails from students, staff, and collegeadministrators in a timely manner while classes are in sessionusing assigned college designated e-mail.
  • Check assigned college mailbox regularly.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

BA degree in Education or relevant discipline. 1-2 yearsofteaching experience in the instructor’s area of expertise. Musthave an ability to create an active learning environment andmaintain a positive and energetic attitude. The candidate must bewilling to take direction, be dependable, flexible, and punctualand show good judgment. Must be able to model appropriate teachingstrategies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a community college and/or non-creditenvironment. Strong customer service skills. English-Spanishbilingual.
