Job summary

The Center for Youth Services in Spencerport, NY is seeking a program assistant to support community schools initiatives. The role focuses on implementing and managing activities, events, programs and services that promote healthy children and strong families.

Responsibilities include partnering with the school, engaging families, and coordinating volunteers, data collection, and training participation. 37.5 hours weekly during school terms; some nights/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in social services, education, youth development or equivalent combination.
• 2 years' experience working with youth/families.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Establish linkages with local organizations to develop expanded learning opportunities.
• Provide day-to-day support of community school partnerships.
• Plan and direct efforts to involve students and engage families.
• Assist with designing and managing volunteer systems within the school.
• Assist in data collection and evaluation; participate in trainings and meetings.
• Collaborate with parent liaisons to increase family engagement at the school site.
• Work with CFY leadership to ensure successful implementation of the community schools strategy.
• Perform school-specific duties as agreed upon by Leadership Team.

The Center for Youth:

Overview:

This position will assist in the facilitation, the implementation, development, and management of community schools' activities, events, programs and services that lead to healthy and successful children, strong families and a thriving community.

Schedule:

37.5 hours per week. 12-months Monday- Friday school hours. Occasional nights and weekends may be required.

Location:

Spencerport, NY

Responsibilities:

• Partners with school to promote the community school's strategy
• Establishes and maintain linkages with local organizations and businesses to develop expanded learning opportunities, health and social services to support the community school's strategy
• Provides day-to-day support of community school partnerships
• Plans and directs efforts to involve students and engage families in the community school strategy
• Assists with designing and managing volunteer systems within the school
• Assists in data collection and evaluationParticipates in capacity-building activities including initiative-wide and site-based trainings, network meetings and study visits
• Works collaboratively with parent liaisons to increase family engagement at the school site
• Works collaboratively with the Department of Community and Family Engagement and site-based leadership team to assure successful implementation of the community schools' strategy
• Perform school-specific additional duties that respond to the emerging needs of the assigned school and that are agreed upon by the Leadership Team and CFY

Required Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in social services, education, youth development OR Equivalent combination of experience and education / Bachelor's degree preferred

• 2 years' experience working with youth/ student/ or families
