Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a qualified individual to coordinate Community School programs serving preschool through Grade 5 in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. The role focuses on scheduling, marketing, and delivering after-school and weekend classes and activities.

The ideal candidate will have education, recreation, or related field experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team while managing staff and program logistics. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in education, recreation, or related field.
• Experience working with preschool through Grade 5 youth.
• Good computer skills, including using Internet search engines, email, and MS Office software.
• Good communication and human/public relations skills.
• Good organizational skills. Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

Community School programs provide a variety of enrichment, recreation, and athletic classes and activities for preschool through Grade 5 youth. Programs are located throughout the Anoka-Hennepin School District.

Community School Programmers are responsible for scheduling, marketing, and delivery of a broad range of classes and activities after school, evenings, and/or weekends.

Essential Functions:

• Plan, organize, and implement enrichment, recreation, and education programs while staying current with trends and markets.
• Promote and publicize classes and activities.
• Hire, train, and supervise program staff/instructors for classes and activities.
• Facilitate community access to school facilities.
• Develop and maintain partnerships and collaboration with district and community organizations.
• Ensure security of school building during assigned hours.
• Perform other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in education, recreation, or related field.
• Experience working with preschool through Grade 5 youth.
• Good computer skills, including using Internet search engines, email, and MS Office software.

• Good organizational skills. Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.

• Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
• Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.
• Must be physically working in the building/on site.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to adult enrichment, park and recreation, or E-12 education preferred.
• One to three years of experience implementing enrichment, recreational, and educational programs for preschool through Grade 5 youth preferred. Experience in a school-based setting preferred.
• Community Education experience preferred.
• Experience recruiting instructors and/or volunteers preferred.
• Experience working with economically and culturally diverse populations preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing setting preferred.
• Arux/Bound Registration software experience preferred.
