The Community School Officer 2 is a patrol position that performs routine armed security duties on school district property in accordance with standard policies and procedures. The Community School Officer 2 performs duties under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor, who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, critiques, and/or records or reports.
Education: High school diploma, vocational, GED certificate. Degree or formal training in security preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in security or Law Enforcement. Verified college experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for each year of the experience requirement. Satisfactory completion of a recognized police academy, or satisfactory US military service, or certification as an ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) may substitute for the two years of experience.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Current Florida "D" and "G" Security license or eligibility to obtain these licenses prior to being hired. Additionally, either (1) issuance and continued maintenance of a school guardian certificate by the Hillsborough County Sheriff pursuant to section 30.15(1)(k), Florida Statutes or (2) qualify as a "Law Enforcement Officer" pursuant to section 943.10, Florida Statutes and be certified by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission within the Department of Law Enforcement.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
