THE OPPORTUNITY:

This position will cover a territory that has been targeted for accelerated growth. Key responsibilities include strengthening, growing and coaching volunteer-based community Affiliates that support organization goals of fundraising, reaching new audiences, and overall mission impact. This position will carry an expectation of success and continued growth in PurpleStride event revenue and overall revenue in the Seattle, Portland, San Diego, and Nebraska markets. The position is charged with successfully recruiting and developing diverse volunteer leaders who will create a welcoming community and fully implement the Affiliate’s scope of work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Fundraiser in a peer-to-peer environment, accountable for securing and stewarding relationships to achieve portfolio fundraising goal of $1,000,000. In partnership with volunteers, responsible for establishing and achieving revenue, outreach and mission goals for assigned communities.
  • Strategic oversight and best practice execution of volunteer-led Affiliates, PurpleStride events, reaching new audiences, and supporting activities.
  • Identify and execute market specific strategies to recruit volunteer leaders based on the needs of the Affiliate. Responsible for continuous talent scouting, retention, succession planning and volunteer accountability.
  • Travel to assigned portfolio markets at least once per month to build and strengthen local communities, fostering relationships and driving national priorities.
  • Local implementation of national campaigns and priorities.
  • In partnership with a robust volunteer committee and event logistics team, implement local PurpleStride events and ensure an excellent event experience.
  • Identify, recruit and coach friends/family & company teams and individuals to achieve participation and fundraising goals.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive sponsorship pipeline: Build and maintain relationships with potential and existing sponsors through targeted outreach and networking, present sponsorship pitches to secure sponsorship support, and steward relationships to ensure continued engagement
  • Collaborate to work effectively with all constituents in assigned communities to introduce them to other PanCAN opportunities (major gifts, planned giving, board, corporate, DIY, etc.), partnering with other teams.
  • Lead volunteers in community assessment, action plan, and goal setting.
  • Establish and deliver local strategic plans for reaching new audiences that align with community needs and opportunities.
  • Identify emerging volunteer talent, top volunteer performers, sponsors with regional and national opportunities.
  • Maintain constituent records in database for volunteers, donors and other contacts
  • Professionally represent the organization to diverse audiences from grassroots volunteers to corporate donors.
  • Manage budgets and data tied to performance goals. Regularly report out progress and identify areas of focus.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year accredited university in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and practical experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position:

  • Years of experience may vary based on the position, duties, and responsibilities. Preferred years of experience are 3 years’ experience in peer-to-peer fundraising, community outreach and mobilization programs, volunteer management, and development, preferably in programs that are regional in scope.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and best practices of volunteer program management, and organizational management.
  • Strong background in peer-to-peer fundraising programs and strategies.
  • Demonstrable success in leading and managing teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications.
  • A friendly, positive, outgoing, solutions-oriented demeanor and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with staff, volunteers and donors, both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and analyze data and make decisions and/or recommendations as required for their markets.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and markets simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the corporate business environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Knowledge of cancer advocacy, outreach and awareness programs, and grassroots marketing a plus.
  • Remote project and team management skills.
  • Must have an interest in domestic travel and be comfortable navigating new cities.
SALARY RANGE: ($68-80k)

PanCAN is committed to providing fair and transparent employee pay. Our compensation policy and practices integrate years of relative experience, skills, job duties, functions, responsibilities, education, certifications, expertise, PanCAN seniority, position/title, department, market conditions, and merit, and may also include geographic location. Our base salaries range from Entry level to Experienced and max at Expert level. The base pay range included herein is specific and germane to the job/position/opening as described within this announcement. Please note that the posted pay range is provided as a general guideline. Actual compensation offered may differ from the stated range if the posted qualifications are not fully met and will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications specific to this role.
