Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti North America is seeking a Community Affairs Specialist to lead the Beatty Center operations and facilitate engagement with local communities in Southern Nevada. You will coordinate educational programming, manage grievances, and support land access and community grants while working closely with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, or related field required (or equivalent practical experience).
• Coursework or training in public participation, conflict resolution, or CSR frameworks preferred.
• Minimum 3 to 5+ years of progressive experience in community relations, public outreach, stakeholder engagement, or program administration.
• Demonstrated experience in customer-facing or community-centric roles, such as running a visitor center or public outreach hub.
• Proven experience executing community grievance mechanisms, organizing public meetings, and maintaining enterprise CRM/stakeholder software.
• Experience living, working, or building relationships within rural Nevada (Nye County / Beatty / Amargosa Valley) is highly advantageous.
• Working knowledge of social performance standards (ICMM, IFC) and social risk mitigation.
• Practical understanding of mining exploration, environmental permitting, and regulatory context.
• Advanced proficiency with stakeholder databases (CIMS, Borealis, Enablon), SAP, and Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

• Staff Beatty Community Relations Center, ensuring welcoming visitors and a professional environment.
• Design, coordinate, and execute community programming at the Center (K-12 workshops, STEM activities).
• Maintain informational displays, maps, and project literature for community updates.
• Manage bookings, equipment, and logistics for meetings at the Center.
• Execute outreach plans with local officials and civic groups.
• Attend local meetings to capture feedback and inform internal teams.
• Support public consultation events (town halls, open houses, site tours).
• Monitor local media and civic updates affecting operations.
