The Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans (JFGNO) is the central convener, advocate, and fundraiser for the local Jewish community, supporting programs and services that strengthen both Jewish life and the greater New Orleans community. The Federation's Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) serves as its advocacy and social action arm, bringing together all segments of the Jewish community and building partnerships across the region to promote Jewish values and the common good.

Position Summary

JFGNO seeks a visionary, relationship-driven professional to help build a Louisiana where Jewish life thrives and where communities of every faith and background stand together against antisemitism and hate.

The Community Relations Director will lead the local implementation of initiatives related to the primary focus areas below, working in partnership with the Jewish Federations of Greater Baton Rouge and Northern Louisiana on certain statewide efforts. The Director will build the partnerships, programs, and infrastructure that strengthen the Jewish community's voice in civic life and establish a lasting foundation for this work.

Primary Focus Areas

1. Educational Engagement: Lead the Federation's educational engagement strategy, with a particular focus on Holocaust education.

2. Interfaith Coalition Building: Bring faith communities together to strengthen the safety and security of houses of worship.

3. Antisemitism Prevention & Advocacy: Work with elected officials and policymakers to establish a statewide antisemitism task force and advance a coordinated framework for preventing antisemitism and hate.

4. Israel Trade Missions: Develop and lead missions to Israel and reverse missions bringing Israeli business leaders to New Orleans, and elected officials and business leaders from New Orleans to Israel.

This position is full-time and reports to the Director of Jewish-Multicultural and Governmental Affairs.

  • Create programs that help students, parents, and educators recognize and respond to antisemitism.
Interfaith Relations & Community Security
  • Build and grow a regional interfaith security coalition into a sustainable statewide network.
  • Convene faith leaders, public safety officials, and civic partners for trainings, information sharing, and preparedness planning.
  • Lead coalition advocacy for state security resources for faith institutions, including legislation and appropriations.

  • Represent the Federation in coalitions, meetings, and public forums across Louisiana.
  • Build relationships with elected officials, agencies, and policymakers, including stakeholders at the State Capitol, to strengthen public responses to antisemitism.
  • Support efforts toward a statewide antisemitism prevention framework, including the formation of a Governor's Task Force on Antisemitism.
  • Monitor relevant legislation and policy, and keep leadership and partners informed.
Israel Trade Missions

  • Build systems to track relationships, activities, and progress toward five-year goals.
  • Manage program budgets, timelines, partners, and deliverables.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in community relations, nonprofit, government, education, advocacy, or a related field.
