Job summary

City of Ocala is seeking a Recreation Programs Assistant to support diverse community activities, from recreation to wellness and fitness. You will welcome visitors, lead sessions, monitor participants, and help with scheduling, registrations and supplies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus two years of related experience; CDL and CPR certifications may be required. This is a hands-on, community-facing position in our recreation facilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent, with emphasis on office or shop skills.
  • Two years related experience and/or training.
  • Must obtain Learning permit for CDL before first day.
  • First Aid & CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes visitors and answers inquiries; informs about schedules and registration.
  • Leads and monitors programs; keeps attendance and records.
  • Receives, stores and maintains equipment; cleans gear.
  • Evaluates programs and suggests improvements.
  • Performs basic maintenance at recreation facilities.
  • Sets up spaces for activities and events.
  • Markets programs and seeks sponsors to supplement the budget.
  • Provides event support before, during and after activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
