Job summary

Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Honolulu seeks a Community Recreation Assistant to support a broad range of programs—from special events and trips to library and outdoor recreation activities. You will assist with information resources, coordinate rental equipment, and help deliver recreational services to sailors, families, and visiting ships.

Qualifications

• Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity based functions.
• Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities.
• Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of the goals, principles and procedures used in organizing leisure time activities.
• Knowledge of Navy MWR mission and Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.
• Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain records and data for reports.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of Community Recreation programs including events, information resources, and activities.
• Assist with planning, organizing and executing special events and entertainment activities.
• Coordinate rentals, trips, tours, outings and outdoor recreation activities.
• Maintain records, gather data, and prepare reports as required.
• Communicate effectively with participants, staff, and supervisors; follow instructions and procedures.
