Job summary

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking enthusiastic, dependable Part-Time Recreation Assistants to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy meaningful activities, explore interests, build friendships, and participate more fully in their communities.

Pay is $20.70–$24.70 per hour with a flexible evening and weekend schedule. You’ll assist with a range of programs and help transport participants as needed, in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Demonstrated employment stability, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recreational activities that promote enjoyment, personal growth, and community participation.
• Help individuals take part in social events, community outings, seasonal celebrations, and recreational programs throughout Ocean County.
• Assist with fitness classes, arts and crafts, cooking groups, dances, volunteer opportunities, and other activities.
• Encourage participants to explore new interests while recognizing their accomplishments and preferences.
• Maintain appropriate supervision and person-centered support during activities, outings, and events.
• Safely transport participants in agency vehicles when assigned.

Be Part of a Collaborative Team

• Work alongside supervisors and other Recreation Assistants to deliver engaging, high-quality programming.
• Communicate participant needs, accomplishments, and concerns with the recreation team.
• Share ideas that can expand recreational opportunities and enhance participant experiences.
