Job summary

Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago seeks a Development Associate to coordinate real estate development, receivership, homeowner repair, and program delivery from intake to disposition. You will manage schedules, budgets, and documentation, while collaborating with architects, engineers, attorneys, lenders, and city agencies.

The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and proactive risk management, with cross-training across NHS Chicago programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, urban planning, construction management, public administration, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with real estate development, receivership, and nonprofit programs is welcome.
  • Strong project coordination, organization, and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate development activities from acquisition through construction and closeout.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, logs, and documentation.
  • Conduct property research, due diligence, and lien/ownership reviews for receivership matters.
  • Prepare property summaries and supporting exhibits for management and counsel.
  • Track budgets, invoices, and funding sources; ensure compliance and reporting.
