Job summary

Quinnipiac University is seeking a Student Employment: Keefe Community Center Community Services Assistant to support the Office of Community Service under the Federal Work-Study program. The role focuses on planning and coordinating social service programs and community outreach in a multi-generational setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with health and job fairs, toy and food drives, and referring community members for emergency assistance, employment, and shelter.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • The ability to deal effectively with town and state officials and members of the public is essential.
  • Telephone etiquette a must.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing and administering social service programs, including event planning and management, referring community members for emergency assistance, employment, food, recreation and shelter.
  • Assist with other programs and activities within a multipurpose intergenerational community center including health and job fairs and toy and food drives during the holidays.
  • Performs various specialized work according to assessment of needs of the community; assignments usually performed with general instructions, guidance and minimal supervision.
