Job summary

The City of Hesperia is seeking a Community Program Manager for the Animal Control Department. This role leads the implementation of services, operations, and facilities, with oversight of staff in an animal care setting and coordination with city leadership.

Qualified candidates will have five years of management-level experience, three years in humane animal care, and a bachelor’s degree in a related field. A California driver’s license and related certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, zoology, animal science, or related field.
• Five years of responsible management-level experience leading and managing employees in municipal or private sectors.
• Three years of experience in humane animal care and related duties; three years of supervisory experience.
• Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license or ability to obtain.
• Ability to obtain California euthanization certificate within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and direct the implementation of services, operations, and facilities for the department.
• Provide supervision over office and shelter staff and ensure humane animal care practices.
• Coordinate with Deputy City Manager/City Clerk and designee on department priorities and reporting.
