Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC, is seeking a Porter to maintain and clean facilities, ensuring a comfortable, clean, and dignified home for residents. The role includes light maintenance, following safety checklists, and regular property upkeep.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, totaling 40 hours weekly. Requires some high school education or GED and 2+ years janitorial experience; a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance are required as a job contingency.

Qualifications

• Some HS Education or GED; 2+ years of janitorial experience.
• Experience serving low-income populations, families, and seniors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows the maintenance checklist to ensure facilities are safe and presentable
• Provides regular cleaning of all common areas, bathrooms, lounges, kitchens, etc.
• Maintains building exterior through regular cleaning and ground maintenance
• Coordinates daily trash collections, empties trash containers, and manages bulk or regular pick-up
• Maintains inventory of cleaning, maintenance, and building supplies
• Provides snow and ice removal from walkways
• Inputs work order into work order system, as needed
• Performs walk-through (move-in and move-out) and room inspections on a regular schedule
