Job summary

STI Federal is seeking a Community Planner at Eielson AFB, AK to develop and maintain planning products guiding installation land use, infrastructure development, and investment strategies.

You will lead complex planning initiatives, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with the Installation Development Plan and Base Master Plan.

Qualifications include a degree in community planning and DoD clearance eligibility; strong data analysis, GIS, CPP/CADD skills, and proven communication.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in community planning or a related field.
• Experience: Analytical, conceptual, and technical planning work in infrastructure or land-use.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
• Environment: Office or lab setting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical expert to the Facilities Utilization Board (FUB) and support installation-wide planning and space management.
• Draft and coordinate FUB agendas with the Base Civil Engineer (BCE).
• Collect, analyze, and validate requests for facility space, real estate, and new construction.
• Prepare and distribute board materials; serve as Executive Secretary/recorder when needed.
• Ensure all proposals align with the Installation Development Plan (IDP) and Base Master Plan.
• Review site and facility requests for compliance with land-use planning, encroachment management, and AICUZ criteria.
• Assess current facility utilization and recommend consolidation, backfill, or optimization opportunities.
• Validate and prioritize SRM and MILCON projects; issue siting approvals for new or temporary facilities.
• Coordinate with tenant units, sister services, and local/regional planning bodies to ensure compatible land-use planning.
• Lead development, review, and maintenance of installation planning documents and studies.
• Plan, program, budget, and execute projects supporting installation planning and asset management programs.
• Collect, interpret, and evaluate planning data affecting installation development and infrastructure management.
• Develop planning solutions that require adaptation of established methods and interpretation of policy guidance.
• Work closely with engineering, environmental, operations, contracting, and other mission partners to resolve complex planning challenges and support installation goals.

What You’ll Do…

As a Community Planner, you will develop, evaluate, and maintain critical planning products that guide installation land use, infrastructure development, and investment strategies. Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Degree in community planning or a related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration.
• Experience: Experience performing analytical, conceptual, and technical planning work in support of infrastructure,landuse, or installation development programs.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain andmaintaina DoD security clearance, ifrequired .
• Environment: Work will be performed in aclimate-controlledoffice or laboratory setting
