Job summary

The Town of Pecos City is seeking a Patrol Officer to protect residents and property by enforcing laws, educating the public, and providing role modeling. The officer will patrol areas, respond to emergencies, direct traffic, investigate incidents, and coordinate with other agencies as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, Texas TCOLE certification, and a valid Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college work in criminal justice, psychology or related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of law enforcement procedures and local ordinances.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Patrols an assigned area by vehicle or on foot to prevent crimes and enforce laws.
• Responds to emergencies and routine complaints and disturbances and takes action.
• Directs traffic, escorts traffic, and issues traffic citations.
• Conducts initial investigations of traffic accidents and criminal offenses.
• Questions witnesses and suspects and takes statements and affidavits.
