This position rotates through Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Berkeley Hospital, and Mount Pleasant Hospital as needed.
HOURS: 7:00am - 7:30pm, ONE 12HR SHIFT/WEEK
The Community Paramedic is an extremely demanding role. The individual must be capable of assuming a variety of tasks and be able to make quick and safe decisions pertaining to patient care. The Community Paramedic is responsible for primary care and education in the home environment. This includes assessing, stabilizing, and arranging transport of the acutely ill patient to a hospital. Patient care rendered should be based upon sound clinical judgment, standing orders, and interaction with Physicians and the Community Paramedic Medical Control Physician.

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc.
This demanding position requires the individual to be in good overall physical condition. The ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds is required. Vision and hearing must be within normal ranges or corrected to be so. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, and medical preparations is possible.
