About the Role

KABOOM! is looking for a college student, recent college graduate or graduate student to support our Community Outreach Managers (COM). The Community Outreach Intern will learn how to conduct market research for viable local organizations, outreach to viable grant candidates, shadow team members, and assist in inputting, organizing, and presenting market data.

What You’ll Do
  • Research geography-specific demographic, income and racial data to identify areas of greatest need and create outreach strategies to target these areas.
  • Review applications from potential partners for KABOOM! project opportunities.
  • Analyze and assess organizations for site viability, construction logistics, and Build Week execution.
  • Draft professional Community Partner profiles for funding recommendation
  • Creating project collateral, such as flyers, posters, online surveys, draft emails, etc.
  • Utilize Salesforce to log activities, communicate internally, post updates, and update cross-team records.
What You Bring
  • A matriculating college student who has earned enough credits for a sophomore status, or a student who has graduated from college within the preceding six months
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proactivity and personal initiative to accomplish work and manage challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work approximately 30 hours per week
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license
Preferred Skills
  • Area of academic study relates to the intern opening (Non-profit Management, Communications, Marketing, Project Management, etc.), strongly preferred
  • Interested individuals should be able to effectively manage responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Individual must have the ability to communicate with community members and business partners of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels
  • Willingness to engage in productive and challenging work
  • Be open and receptive to feedback and learning opportunities
  • Interns will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, including working in a cooperative manner within a team-oriented environment
Location and Timing
  • Timing: This is a 10-week internship, starting June 16th, 2026 – August 21, 2026 (30 Hours per week)
  • Location: This position is based in Bethesda, MD/ Hybrid Schedule
  • Stipend: $15 per hour

Essential Job Functions

Program Team – Ability to maintain acceptable standards of conduct and work cooperatively as an effective team member of a diverse and inclusive workforce. Communicates with others, sits, or moves about the office to coordinate work and uses a computer as well as other office equipment as needed. In addition, must be able to travel independently, leading events with extended hours of moving about in various weather conditions and in some circumstances, able to lift or move objects unassisted up to 60 pounds with the ability to operate basic hand tools.
