Job summary

Barber National Institute is seeking a Community Relations Specialist to serve as an external-facing ambassador and build meaningful relationships throughout the community. This role increases awareness of our mission, programs, impact, and opportunities for involvement by partnering with businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, civic groups, volunteers, donors, and other community stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in community relations, nonprofit engagement, or related fields is required.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with businesses, donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community outreach and partnership activities with businesses, schools, civic groups, and other organizations.
  • Represent Barber National Institute at community events, meetings, and external opportunities.
  • Communicate the organization’s mission, programs, impact, and opportunities for engagement clearly and professionally.
  • Identify opportunities for mission-aligned partnerships and connect prospects with Advancement leadership.
  • Coordinate the Speakers Bureau by managing requests and preparing materials.
  • Coordinate the volunteer program, manage inquiries, onboarding, and records, and support meaningful volunteer experiences.
  • Gather stories and materials with Strategic Communications for newsletters and donor communications.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records including partnerships, speaking engagements, volunteer participation, and referrals.
