Community Outreach Coordinator (PORCH INC) (2025)

PORCH Communities' mission is to mobilize and support local volunteers to create sustainable hunger relief programs. The proposed VISTA project aligns with the AmeriCorps Healthy Future focus area. The VISTA project will seek to:

1. Increase the number of licensed NC PORCH chapters from 13 to 20 in 2023-2024,
2. Increase the number of NC volunteers from 1,300 to 1,500 in 2023-2024,
3. Increase the number of NC counties served from 8 to 10 in 2023-2024,
4. Establish the foundation and processes to expand into South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia in the next 2-3 years.

The VISTA project expects to benefit 12,000 individuals in 9 NC counties by providing over 1,000,000 meals in 2023-2024. In this role, you will enhance and develop strategies for increased neighborhood leader engagement, onboard new neighborhoods, and identify areas of improvement. The ideal candidate will have terrific communication and possess strong interpersonal skills. This position is for self-directed individuals looking to make a high impact and create a meaningful difference in the fight against hunger. This role is one of 3 VISTA positions with the PORCH INC hunger relief VISTA project and involves full-time teleservice while interfacing regularly with key board members, including weekly check-ins. During the service term, VISTA members must live within the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill commuting area.

Member Duties:

1. Engage with neighborhood leaders to understand their perspectives on hunger relief efforts within the context of PORCH's community-driven approach.
2. Enhance and develop strategies for increased neighborhood leader engagement. Evaluate monthly activities and secure content for monthly team meetings by meeting with neighborhood leaders, the marketing team, the business development team, and PORCH Communities leadership. Collaborate with the marketing team to prepare a monthly update deck, build a team contact list, share links, and prepare and share post-meeting summaries.
3. Facilitate workshops with the VISTA Media/Marketing Coordinator to train volunteers and partners on effective program implementation and community engagement strategies.
4. Onboard new neighborhoods and identify areas of improvement by utilizing an onboarding checklist and confirming access for all materials. Evaluate, test, and implement a system for collecting monthly impact data.
